Dirtmasters – Mountain Biking Skills for Kids (3-12)

Dirtmasters mountain biking skills clinics are fun filled, volunteer run, practical  sessions that teach kids of all ages and abilities the skills that make mountain biking so much fun.  We start each year with our grass skills sessions on the Tambrey oval and proceed to riding the skills track in the hills behind Stovehill road (off the LIA road).

Sessions are presented by coaches who have achieved a minimum Level 0 MTBA coaching level.  With a strong safety focus, we teach fundamental skills such as braking, cornering and correct body position on bike.  Once the basics are mastered we progress to conquering obstacles, lifting front and back wheels, bunny hopping and more!

Our sessions are held approximately once a month, on the same weekend as the club run the Championship rounds.  Generally sessions occur on a Sunday Morning at 0900 and run for between 60-90min.  Don’t have a mountain bike? That’s ok – any bike will do. We even have some mountain bikes for you to try but booking well prior to the event is essential by contacting Paul Maccan here to book a bike.

What you need to bring: a bike, helmet, water bottle and a parent.  Your will also need to be a MTBA member prior to the session ($50 for 12 months including Burrup MTB Club membership or a two month free trial is available).

Scott Cycles are generous sponsors of the Dirtmasters clinics, and provide vouchers which are awarded to random winners each session.
